Lake Minnewaska Ice Conditions 2/21/2016

Lake Minnewaska Ice Conditions 2/21/2016 - The  DNR access on the Glenwood side is pretty torn up,

someone dropped a fish house thru, and made the landing impassable. I also heard the same thing on the Starbuck side by the

beach that a house went thru on the landing. The beach access on Minnewaska isn't much better, the ice heaved up, causing big holes from the top of the ice heave to the bottom of

the ground. There is also large crack that goes out from the beech landing , yesterday it was full of good size holes, with lots of water runnig into it.

There is also open water in this crack that a size ten shoe can fit in. So please be very careful. Once you get out onto the lake there is still a good

19-20 inches of ice, but it's just being able to get out there. I've heard the crappies and sunfish have been doing well, my son and I went out yesterday and

only got a few smaller sunfish that was it. Wax worms are a must if you are going to fish for panfish on Minnewaska. We still have plently of minnows

in stock and our winter ice fishing clearance will start soon.
